The 2016 AWARE Conference is now over
The conference entitled ‘Depression – What Works’ took place on Thursday 31 March in Belfast’s Europa Hotel. The conference was aimed at employers and employees and included a panel of industry experts including the Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Head of Health and Social Wellbeing at the Public Health Agency.
AWARE is the only mental health charity in Northern Ireland with a focus solely on depression and bipolar disorder. AWARE deliver mental health awareness programmes into a number of local business organisations across Northern Ireland as well as providing a broad range of support services for people with depression and bipolar disorder.
Chief Executive of AWARE, Siobhan Doherty said,
“We are delighted at how successful the conference was. The aim was to help employers recognise, understand and support employees with a mental illness to help them provide a more productive workforce and help with their long-term profitability.
“The feedback from participants was that they got a lot out of the conference in terms of looking after the mental health and emotional wellbeing of their employees. We look forward to working with these employers in the future.”
