Lloyd's staff go around the world in 8 days for AWARE!
Last month, staff from Lloyds Banking Group in Northern Ireland came together to walk, run, cycle, swim, or surf around the world in 8 days in support of AWARE!
With initial fundraising plans put on hold due to Covid-19, staff were looking for a new challenge and something to focus on while going through this difficult period. After a few brainstorming sessions, the group decided to unite together and take on the challenge of travelling around the world in 8 days!
There were two aims of the challenge-
1. Support AWARE by raising funds
2. Support the health and well-being of colleagues and family members during this difficult time.
Come rain or shine staff, colleagues, friends, families, and even dogs clocked up a total of 28,119 miles over an 8-day period. This led to the group raising an incredible £1130 for AWARE!
Tim Taylor, Team Manager in Lloyds told us, “This challenge was great because it encouraged staff to maintain their mental health through exercise, getting outside, and connecting with family and friends. Mental Health is very close to the heart of many Lloyds Banking Group employees so it seemed natural for us to support a local charity, AWARE which is so involved in providing mental health resources throughout Northern Ireland, so we knew anything we raised would go to helping local people who may be struggling at this difficult time.”
Team AWARE would like to say a huge thank you to all at Lloyds Banking Group for the support throughout this challenge. The teams raised an incredible amount which will go a long way in supporting those in Northern Ireland who are struggling with their mental health, particularly at this difficult time.
