This is delivered to expectant mothers and young parents. It has similar content to the Mood Matters Adult programme but focuses very much on the issues affecting this particular target group. There is a strong emphasis on looking after the mental health of both the parent and the child.
The programme features videos of parents discussing their experience of depression during and after pregnancy, including the help they got and what they do now to look after their mental health.
It also features information from professionals about recognising the signs and symptoms of a mental health problem or mental illness, where to get help and simple self-help strategies to maintain good mental health or recover from illness.
There is also a practical demonstration of how simple mindfulness meditation can help parents feel more relaxed and better equipped to enjoy parenthood.
