Leading mental health charity, Aware Defeat Depression received a cheque from ESB Electric Aid Ireland for €7,500/£6,200 following an application they made to them in July 2013.

Aware Defeat Depression intends to spend the money on promoting the work of their charity and increasing public awareness of the illness of depression.

Siobhan Doherty, Chief Executive of Aware Defeat Depression said,

“This funding will allow us kick start the national conversation about depression and we feel that with this early investment we can do something meaningful over a period of time and highlight to people that depression is an illness like any physical illness and that it is OK to talk about it.
