AWARE launches first Mindfulness Day for Northern Ireland
Leading depression and mental health charity AWARE has launched Northern Ireland’s first Mindfulness Day and is encouraging us to be more mindful of each other, especially on November 10 from today onwards.
The event saw a range of people from the third sector and the business community coming together to discuss the important role mindfulness plays in our daily lives. The Chair of the Health Committee, Maeve McLaughlin MLA gave a passionate speech about how depression and mental illness impacts in all areas of our society and how mindfulness has a role to play.
The event also saw the launch of the Mindful Nation Report in Belfast which is a UK report, produced by the Mindfulness All-Party Parliamentary Group (MAPPG) and is the first policy document of its kind that seeks to address mental health concerns in the area of education, health, the workplace and the criminal justice system through the application of Mindfulness interventions.
