AWARE, the depression charity for Northern Ireland is relaunching its Dungannon support group. The group will meet fortnightly in The Niamh Louise Foundation, 32 Coalisland Road, Dungannon. The first meeting will be on Thursday 7 June at 7.00pm.

AWARE has over 20 support groups across Northern Ireland. Support groups are for people aged 18 or over who are affected by depression, anxiety or bipolar disorder. This includes relatives, carers and friends who want to know more about depression and how they can help someone recover. Support groups are facilitated by trained volunteers and provide peer-support to enable participants to support each other.

Caroline McLoughlin, Support Services Officer at AWARE said, “AWARE support groups are free to attend and no appointment is necessary. You can just turn up on the night and a trained support group facilitator will welcome you in with a cup of tea or coffee.

“Our support groups give you the opportunity to learn and get support from people who have been through, or are going through similar experiences. The group lets members share information, discuss options and support each other to move forward.

“Feedback from our support groups has been very positive, with members saying they get great benefit from knowing they’re not on their own and that there is support available, and being able to talk about their problems with people who understand.”

The AWARE support group is on Thursday 7 June at 7.00pm in the Niamh Louise Foundation, 32 Coalisland Road Dungannon BT71 6LA.
