The Young Farmer’s Clubs of Ulster is supporting AWARE through it's annual charity appeal.
AWARE is delighted to be working with The Young Farmer’s Clubs of Ulster (YFCU) to raise vital funds and awareness of mental health in the rural community.
AWARE has recently launched a new fundraising initiative, Mood Walk 2020 and YFCU President, Zita McNair is encouraging farmers across the province to take part in a virtual Mood Walk on the 6th September in support of their charity appeal.
Zita told us all about the appeal and why YFCU chose to support AWARE,
“Young Farmers are known for being very charitable and last year instead of donating money, clubs donated time to their communities. Our association experienced a very tragic event back in March 2020 and due to this I have picked AWARE as our charity for this season. AWARE is the depression charity for Northern Ireland which focuses on education and providing support to people on the illness of depression. To raise funds for the charity, I am asking you the members to join me in taking part in a virtual Mood Walk on 6th September 2020.”
Lesley Wright, Community and Events Fundraising Officer at AWARE said,
“We are delighted to be the nominated charity of the Young Farmers Clubs of Ulster this year. AWARE works to support those in the rural community through our established network of Support Groups and Well-Being programmes. The emergence of COVID-19 has put a strain on the mental health of many in our rural communities and we will strive to continue to be a source of support for those who need it. YFCU’s fundraising efforts will enable us to continue to support those in the community who are struggling with their mental health. Thank you to all at YFCU for the continued support!”
