Mindfulness is a form of meditation with its roots in Buddhism. It helps you develop skills and techniques to cope with the daily challenges a busy life can bring such as stress and anxiety. It involves making a special effort to give your full attention to what is happening in the present moment –and to what's happening in your body, your mind and or your surroundings.
Why should I practice Mindfulness?
Recently Mindfulness has seen resurgence and is a ‘buzz word’, but this should not take away from the fact that it really works. Mindfulness is recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence as a technique to reduce stress and prevent the recurrence of depression. It is a tool that, when used effectively, can bring many benefits. Mindfulness can reduce the pace of life to a manageable level, helping you make the most of time and enjoy a calmer lifestyle.
Who is it for?
Mindfulness has proven beneficial to busy mums who just need to take time out to relax and re-energise. It is for professionals who experience stress and want to find a healthy way to deal with it, it is for people who work in environments where burn out is a possibility, and for those on in the creative side of life where focus and problem solving are important.
AWARE’s Mindfulness Programme
We created our programme with experienced Mindfulness Practitioner, Frank Liddy. It represents the culmination of Franks thirty years’ experience in the delivery of high quality Mindfulness, and the discipline of daily practice along with and AWARE’s 20 year expertise in delivering reputation for the delivery of evidence based services with the highest standards of clinical excellence developed over the past 20 years.
Frank Liddy, AWARE’s Mindfulness Practitioner, says; “Based on feedback after our programme, we know it works. There are people of all ages and professions in every group and even if you are unsure at the start, by the end of the 6 weeks people always feel like they have achieved something personal to themselves. I always say that even if you take one thing away from programme that can really help in your daily life, then it has been successful.”
The AWARE Mindfulness Programme is delivered in a 2-hour session once a week delivered over 6 consecutive weeks or in 2 full day sessions (This is depending on what programme is available in your area). Running over 6-weeks, you will learn coping techniques from Frank and share/learn confidentially from others in your group. The Mindfulness Programme is delivered in various locations throughout Northern Ireland.
We strongly suggest completing the full course to get the overall benefit of the practice.
