Looking for mental health courses in Northern Ireland?

Whether you want to better understand your mental health, improve your emotional wellbeing or learn practical tools to support yourself and others, AWARE NI has a programme for you.

This autumn, we’re offering a range of mental health and wellbeing programmes, available online and face-to-face at locations across Northern Ireland.

Our programmes provide practical, evidence-based tools to help you build resilience, develop coping skills, increase confidence and better understand your mental health and wellbeing.

All programmes listed below are free to attend, with the exception of our Mental Health First Aid Refresher course.

Courses for parents & caregivers

Mental health course for parents (free – online 💻)

For expectant parents and parents of children aged three and under. Learn how to support your own wellbeing, look after your baby’s mental health, and find help when you need it.

Date: Thursday 15 October
Time: 7pm – 9pm

Mindfulness course for parents (free – online 💻)

A six-week course for parents and guardians of children and teens. Learn practical mindfulness techniques to help you manage stress, build emotional resilience, and nurture a calmer home environment.

Dates: Thursdays, 1 October to 12 November (no session 29 October)
Time: 10am – 12pm

Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid is a 12-hour programme certified by the Public Health Agency in Northern Ireland. It equips participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to support someone experiencing mental health difficulties or a mental health crisis.

The programme explores a range of mental health conditions, how to recognise common signs and symptoms, and how to respond appropriately and help someone access further support.

Already trained in Mental Health First Aid? If your certification is up to six months out of date (certification has expired between June 2026 - November 2026), our Mental Health First Aid Refresher course can renew your certification for a further year.

 

Mental Health First Aid Refresher (£60 – online 💻)

Refresh your Mental Health First Aid knowledge, revisit key skills and build your confidence in recognising and responding to someone experiencing mental health difficulties or a crisis.

This course is designed for those whose Mental Health First Aid certification is up to six months out of date (certification has expired between June 2026 - November 2026).

Please note: Unlike our other programmes listed on this page, there is a fee to attend the Mental Health First Aid Refresher.

Mental Health First Aid (free – face to face 📍)

Mental Health First Aid is a 12-hour programme certified by the Public Health Agency in Northern Ireland. It equips participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to recognise the signs of mental health difficulties, offer appropriate support and help someone access further help when needed.

The programme explores a range of mental health conditions and provides practical guidance on supporting someone who may be experiencing mental distress or a mental health crisis.

Please note: This course is only available to people who live or work within the Northern Health and Social Care Trust area.

Dates: Thursday 19 & Friday 20 November
Time: 9:30am - 4:30pm
Delivery: Killbegs Business Park, Antrim, BT41 4LZ
