Looking for free mental health courses in Northern Ireland?
Do you want to learn more about mental health, improve your emotional wellbeing, or find practical ways to support your own wellbeing?
AWARE NI is offering a range of FREE mental health education courses in September 2026, with both online and face-to-face courses available across Northern Ireland.
Our courses are designed to support individuals, parents, teachers, and people affected by cancer. All of our mental health education programmes help participants build resilience, confidence, coping skills, and mental wellbeing.

Courses for parents & caregivers
Mental health course for parents (free – online 💻)
For expectant parents and parents of children aged three and under. Learn how to support your own wellbeing, look after your baby’s mental health, and find help when you need it.

Introductory Mental Health Course (free – face to face 📍)
A practical workshop for anyone who wants to learn more about mental health. Gain tools to reduce stress, recognise signs of mental ill-health, and find support.

A five-week course for anyone struggling with low mood, anxiety, or depression. Learn how to understand your emotions, challenge unhelpful thoughts, and build confidence.

Courses for teachers & classroom assistants
Mindfulness course for teachers (free – online 💻)
A six-week course for teachers and classroom assistants. This course will introduce you to the meaning of mindfulness, how it can support you in everyday life and how you can use it in your role as a teacher or classroom assistant.

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy for primary teachers & classroom assistants (free – online 💻)
An eight-week course, including a a one-day mindfulness retreat, for primary teachers and classroom assistants. A comprehensive introduction to Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) designed to help you develop a steady, supportive, and nourishing meditation practice to use in your personal life and within the classroom.
Dates: Mondays, 21 September to 16 November, 4:30pm-6:30pm AND a mindfulness retreat Sunday 8th November, 10am - 3pm

Courses for individuals impacted by cancer
Introductory mental health for individuals impacted by cancer (Free – Online 💻)
In partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, this two-hour workshop supports people living with or beyond cancer, as well as their friends, family, and carers. Explore how cancer can affect emotional wellbeing, learn stress-reduction techniques, and find out where to get help.

Six-week mental health programme to challenge negative thinking for individuals impacted by cancer
Also delivered with Macmillan Cancer Support, this six-week course offers practical tools to help you take control of your mental wellbeing, manage stress and worry, and build everyday confidence. Specifically adapted for individuals living with cancer or cancer experienced.
Dates: Thursdays, 24 September to 29 October
