Karen joined AWARE in November 2018 after serving 10 years as the CEO of a counselling charity. Karen’s role focuses on working closely with the Board to ensure the effective governance and strategic planning of the organisation. Outside work Karen enjoys running and spending time with her family.
Pat has been working for AWARE since May 2000 and is the longest serving member of staff in the organisation. As Head of Services, Pat oversees the smooth running of the Education and Training department. Pat is a keen gardener and loves everything to do with the outdoors.
Patricia joined AWARE in January 2004. Patricia is responsible for the smooth running of the organisation including management of Finance and Human Resources. In her spare time Patricia enjoys walking and zumba.
Tom started to work for AWARE in September 2009. Tom has 30 years clinical and management experience as a mental health professional working within the Belfast Trust area.
Michelle joined AWARE in March 2013 and is responsible for Communications within AWARE. Michelle has been tasked with raising the public profile of AWARE as well as the development and editing of all online communication including the website and social media sites. In her spare time, Michelle is a keen singer and enjoys spending time with her young family.
I have worked in fundraising for over 20 years and most recently took on this role at AWARE, a fantastic charity that understands and supports people with depression and mental health issues.
In my spare time, I enjoy swimming and taking sunshine holidays. I have a Scottish terrier called Lulu who has 3 legs following a road traffic accident - whilst chasing a cat. I can be seen walking with Lulu in her doggy pram as she is now 11 years and not as mobile.
Margaret is our Community Fundraiser and works with fundraising teams particularly in the North West of the province. Margaret works closely alongside the Omagh AWARE Committee who have organized some extremely successful fundraising events to date.
Pam joined AWARE as Corporate Fundraiser in July 2017 (Belfast Office), following 16 years in Commercial Banking. Pam has a passion for worship and all things musical and is active in her local church. She enjoys time with friends (even better where good food is involved!) and has undertaken overseas mission trips spanning 6 continents.
Cassie is the Project Officer for the Feel Good Project, working with Travellers Support Groups throughout Northern Ireland to improve the mental wellbeing of the Traveller Community. Cassie is based in the Derry Office and can be contacted at the following email address and telephone number.
Catherine joined AWARE in early 2015 as a sessional trainer and later in the year became the full time Education and Training Officer based in the Derry/Londonderry Office.
Catherine delivers training programmes such as Mood Matters and Living Life to The Full. She and has over 20 years experience in working with a wide variety of statutory and non-statutory organisations and has a particular interest in young people’s mental health.
Catherine enjoys spending time with her family and friends in Donegal and walking.
Marina joined AWARE in 2013 as a sessional trainer and then in 2016 as a full time Education and Training Officer. Marina is also a trained Massage and Holistic therapist with a particular interest in personal development. In her spare time, she enjoys good food, eating out and then walking it off again.
Patrick has been working for AWARE since May 2015. Patrick qualified as a teacher in 2010 and taught in secondary education until he moved to the Voluntary and Community Sector to work with LGBT Young People in schools across Northern Ireland. Patrick now works within the Education and Training Department at AWARE, delivering training programmes such as Mood Matters and Living Life to The Full. Patrick enjoys keeping fit and enjoys most forms of exercise; in particular his training with Belfast Community Circus where he trains and performs as an aerial acrobat.
Caroline is passionate about Mental Health and has been involved as a volunteer with AWARE for over 13 years. She was a Board member for 12 years and held the position of Company Secretary. Caroline currently works with Support Services and manages a large team of volunteers who deliver services across NI. As well as working in the Community and Voluntary sector, Caroline’s wide and varied career with HMRC and her involvement in family business gives her considerable experience in both public and private sectors. Caroline is studying for her degree in counselling and wishes to pursue her career in the field of mental health.
Cherry is the Support Services Officer in the Belfast Office at AWARE. She looks after support groups and volunteers in her area as well as public and outreach events, support calls and support mail. Cherry used to volunteer for AWARE as a support group facilitator for three years before coming onto staff in October 2014. Prior to working at AWARE, Cherry worked for the National Trust, the Open College Network and the Workers’ Educational Association. Her background is in adult and community education. When not working in AWARE, Cherry is a drummer in a local Samba band, she sings in a women’s singing group and enjoys walking other people’s dogs.
Carole has been working for AWARE since October 2010 and helps out the Education & Training department. She helps to organise the training programmes, from advertising the courses, taking in the applications to evaluating the forms that the participants fill in. Carole also looks after the day to day duties of the office as well as being PA to the CEO.
